About the project

For the Birds is an art project in public space with many contributors: visual artists, writers, architects and musicians, who where invited to participate, will create a birdhouse, an collective aeronautic sculpture garden. For the Birds are realized on different places. Their respective bird houses are individual contributions to a collective sculptural installation. An artistic reflection rather than a singular fixed structure.

2018 winning the project For the Birds by Claudia Märzendorfer at the art in public space department of Lower Austria and the socio-psychiatric department of the clinic in Hollabrunn, which developed from the Sanatorium Gugging. First opening in June 2019.

Pictures garden installation 2019

To give visitors the chance to match names and contributions and to locate these, a map of the aeronautic sculpture garden will be available at the clinic to guide them around the premises.

X Map The commissioners for this project are the Department for Art in Public Space of the Lower Austrian state government and the management of the Landesklinikum Hollabrunn. A publication accompanying this project will be published by the Art in Public Space department of Lower Austria.

Through July 2019, authors and contributions to this collective project will be presented here.

2022 the project will be part of a lesson at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The student objects are in the tree population at the Exposidur Rustenschacherallee.

2023 For the Birds will be invited to Kunsthaus Wien for the exhibition CLOSE/D with ten artists and there Birdhouse- objects. A publication accompanxing this project will be published by the KUNST HAUS WIEN.
